Sleep well and your body will thank you
, Published on August 2019
I’m sure you all know that sleep is very important for our bodies. It helps our bodies grow and keeps our minds focused the next day. Did you know that a good night’s sleep helps with many other things too? Here are just a few of the things it’s good for.
When we sleep, our brains have a chance to organize things that we learned or experiencedduring the day. Think about it like organizing your room: you put the important things in places that are easy to get to. Things that are not important are put somewhere else or thrownaway. In short — if you sleep well, your brain is more organized.
A good night’s sleep helps you live a healthier life. When we sleep, our bodies releasedifferent hormones and chemicals that make our hearts and immunesystems stronger.
So now we know how important it is for us to sleep well. Still, it’s not always easy to fall asleep on summer vacation. First, you don’t have school to make you tired. Second, meeting your friends usually gives you a lot of energy that makes it hard for you to go to sleep. So here are some tips on how to fall asleep like a pro.
Try not to look at any digital screens before you go to bed. TV, tablet or smartphone screens have a special blue light coming out of them. This light makes our brains think it’s still daytime, and makes it harder for us to feel sleepy.
Read a book in bed. Reading makes our eyes feel tired. Just make sure you don’t read anything too scary or exciting. Things like that will just keep you awake.
