Summer clothes are great — but what do you do about the sweat?
LINOY DORON, Published on August 2019
I like summer: It’s sunny; you can go to the beach and eat a lot of ice cream; and you don’t have to take an umbrella and a coat wherever you go. Still, when it comes to choosing clothes in the summertime, there’s one thing I really don’t like: sweat. Or more accurately: Sweat showing on my shirt.
I know, it’s not popular to talk about, but someone has to. So here are my best anti-sweat summer fashion tips.
T-shirts and tank tops come in different sizes, shapes and cuts. One specific design that is really sweat-friendly is the batsleeve top. The sleeves of this kind of top are extremely loose (kind of like the wings of a bat). This way, even if you Sweat no one’s going to see it! The looser, the better. Also, when you wear this kind of shirt, make sure you’re not carrying a bag with shoulderstraps. When wearing Shoulder straps they hold the fabric close to your armpit and then the loose cut doesn’t help.
Another option is wearing tank tops that don’t cut too close to the armpit. The farther the cut is from your Armpit the smaller the chance that any Sweat will touch the Fabric This way, you get a maximum of airiness, and a minimum of stains!
When it gets hotter outside, there are some fabrics that you should stay away from; but there are also some that do a great job hiding SweatStains
The good ones: natural fabrics like cotton and linen.
The bad ones: synthetic fabrics like polyester or nylon. Silk is a natural Fabric but it’s best to stay away from it too.
All black. Or maybe… all white?
Very dark colors, and especially black, do a pretty good job of hiding Sweat The same is true for whiter-than-white tops. But all colors in the middle can be pretty problematic. Just make sure you remember that in case you feel like wearing a green T-shirt in the middle of the summer.
One extra tip:
Here’s a great anti-sweat tip my mom gave me. All you need for it is a towel and some water. If you find yourself sweating in the middle of the day, but there’s no shower nearby, don’t panic. Take a Towel and put it under the water. After you get it a little wet, use it to clean your armpits. There’s no need to add soap or anything, and the smell will go away like magic! If you can’t fit a small Towel into your bag, you can use toilet paper. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing.
